The Hot House West Quartet, performing at Ballroom Utah for Salt City Swing, November 30th, 8-10 p.m. Expect vibrant, Django-inspired hot jazz jams, blending swinging rhythms and melodic improvisation, perfect for an unforgettable evening of lively music and dance. Join us for a night of energetic tunes!



 



Jazz Swings:

Artistic Recourse for Teachers and Students (A.R.T.S., Inc)

We're excited to partner with A.R.T.S. Inc.! The Jazz Swings group has joyfully introduced swing jazz to local elementary schools across the Salt Lake Valley! This group is part of A.R.T.S., Inc., a non-profit founded in 1961 in collaboration with the Salt Lake City School District. During demonstrations, Jazz Swings offers an interactive experience for children, allowing them to learn and grow through unique musical traditions.

 

Hot House West is Going to New Orleans!


The journey is set for the Hot House West Swing Orchestra as they prepare to take their talents to the iconic city of New Orleans. During the Jazz Education Network Conference this January, the group will take the stage, ready to showcase their swing ensemble to an audience of students, respected educators, and seasoned musicians!

WEEKLY MUSICIAN SPOTLIGHT - TOM YOUNG

If you've been around the jazz scene here in Utah for any amount of time, you've probably come across Tom Young and his amazing trumpet. He is an old friend of Hot House West that you may know from the Bar X days!

Tom Young is a skilled trumpet instructor and performer with over 15 years of experience. Based in New Canaan, Connecticut, he was mentored by jazz legends Harry Connick, Jr. and Wynton Marsalis. Tom's education includes a year at New York City's New School for Jazz and a music bachelor’s from Snow College, Utah. His career includes four years of professional playing on cruise ships across 40+ countries. Now active in Utah and neighboring states, Tom specializes in teaching trumpet fundamentals, jazz improvisation, and music theory. He is known for his engaging style, catering to students ranging from beginners to professionals.
