TOM YOUNG

Tom Young is a trumpet teacher, performer and studio musician who offers private lessons in trumpet fundamentals, jazz improvisation, music theory and audition prep. With over 15 years of teaching experience, Tom has developed a unique teaching style that is both enjoyable and growth oriented.

Tom grew up in New Canaan, Connecticut, a 1 hour train ride from  New York City.  While studying classical trumpet he was simultaneously mentored by two of the most prominent jazz artists active today - Harry Connick, Jr and Wynton Marsalis. He attended New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music in NYC for 1 year followed by 4 years of professional playing aboard multiple cruise lines. 40+ countries later he moved to Utah and in 2017 obtained his bachelors in music with an emphasis in commercial music from Snow College.

Tom regularly works as a bandleader, sideman and studio musician in Utah, Wyoming, Idaho and Nevada. With his vast performance experience and engaging personality, he is the perfect teacher for anyone looking to improve their trumpet playing, from beginner to professional.
