JAZZ SWINGS

The Jazz Swings band collaborates with Arts Inc to educate Utah audiences about the essence of Jazz music, a uniquely American art form rooted in the musical traditions of New Orleans, Louisiana. Through their partnership, students gain insight into the city's cultural heritage and discover how African Americans blended blues, spirituals, and dance music to birth jazz. They delve into the life and impact of the iconic Louis Armstrong, a key architect of jazz. Additionally, students explore entertaining musical concepts like improvisation, swing, call and response, and scat singing, actively engaging as the jazz band performs and they sing along.
